On Saturday, January 4th, Brandon Disney from Disney's Boat Rentals gave
a short presentation for the public giving an overview of their plans to develop a
project on their property north of Lange St. in Lakeport. Disneys is a family
operated business that has been operating in Lakeport since 1983 and employs
as many as 24 employees during the season. In 2022 Disneys purchased the
property north of Lange including the land east of the school and the waterfront
parcel east of Lakeshore Blvd. The property consists of four parcels covering six
acres. Three parcels are west of Lakeshore Blvd. and one parcel is east of the
road on the lake shore. They have had two biological surveys on the property.
The plans will not remove any of the trees on the site.
The plans call for a 100 foot by 30 foot building on the west side parcel with
1500 square feet designated boat storage and 1500 square feet for customer
service on the ground floor and office space on the second story. There will be
pederstrian activaed flashing beacons to guide customers across the street to the
dock. There will be a buffer zone of 200 feet from the property line on the south
and 270 feet on the north end of the property. The only paving will be on the shore
side between the two docks. There will be a customer parking facility with EV and
handicap spaces available to the south and a fueling dock to the north. There will
be six permanant mooring spots on the north and four on the south.
Boats will not be launched from the property, but in the Spring they will
launch from the 5th Street, Crystal Lake or the 1st street boat launches. There will
be a 5MPH buoy. The permanant mooring spots will consist of six on the north and
four on the south. There will be a 50 foot diameter around each spot ( the largest
boat Disney uses is 23 feet). Jet skis will be launched from the docks.
There will only be three square feet of tules relocated with nine square feet
replanted. The portable fuel tank will be seasonal only and only used for Disney's
vehicles and operated only by their employees. During the off season the fule tank
will be located elsewhere. There is a storm water retention basin in the plan.
Construction is planned for this Spring. This plan will be before the Lakeport
Planning Commission on Wednesday, January 8th at 5:30 PM. Any questions can
be answered by contacting Brandon Disney at (707) 349-6464 or at
